1) Which toothbrush is the right one for me? Manual or Electric?
Considering the various types on the market, the best toothbrush you can buy is actually “the one you are happy to use” according to the Academy of General Dentistry.

Both Manual & Electric have their pros and cons and some of these have been highlighted below:

Manual Pro: Inexpensive, Easy Grip Handle, Easy to travel with

Manual Con: No Built in timer, can be difficult to hold

Electric Pro: Many have large handles making it easier to hold, Built in timers on most

Electric Con: May be quite expensive, May need to regular recharging

Whether you choose Manual or Electric, the important thing is to USE the toothbrush.

2) How often should I get a dental check up?
It is recommended that most children and adults should see their dentist for a regular clean and check up every 6 months to maintain healthy teeth and gums.

3) What causes bad breath?
Bad Breath or Halitosis is an embarrassing condition and can affect anyone. Most common causes are preventable and easily treated, however, certain medical conditions may also be responsible.

The common causes: Certain Foods and digestion, Infrequent brushing and flossing & smoking

Medical causes: Oral disease and infections, Dry Mouth Syndrome to name a few

4) What is tooth sensitivity?
Tooth sensitivity is a common problem that affects millions of people. It basically means experiencing pain or discomfort on your teeth from lollies, hot and cold drinks or Ice cream. The good news is that it can be treated.

5) Are Mouthguards really necessary?
Anybody that participates in sports especially contact sports, should be wearing mouthguards at any age/level. Protection of the teeth should be a priority to avoid further detrimental issues with your teeth or gums and of course to preserve your beautiful smile.

6) At what age should a child first visit the dentist? Ideally, a child should visit when their first tooth comes through or no later than their first birthday.

7) How important is fluoride? Fluoride often found in drinking water and toothpaste is a naturally occurring mineral. Research has shown that cavities decrease when it is added to the water supply.
